OPINION:
My eyes roll to the back of my head as I watch the dull and predictable chorus of liberal media voices (whom I have come to refer to as “the usual suspects”) decry ABC’s ouster of Jimmy Kimmel as an attack on the First Amendment and more proof that our democracy is under attack (“Reactions pour in about ABC’s suspension of Jimmy Kimmel’s show,” Web Sept. 18). Don’t these people ever give up?
Jimmy Kimmel is not being silenced. He is perfectly free to go out and say anything, anywhere to anyone he wants — .just not on the ABC network. Nor is he being investigated, charged, arrested, tried in court or found guilty of anything (though he should be, for his fraudulent claim that he is a comedian).
Mr Kimmel got fired from his job by an employer that had basically had it with the man, his persistently toxic attitude and his sagging ratings. Mr. Kimmel’s profoundly ugly and tasteless remarks regarding the shooting of Charlie Kirk were merely the straw that broke the camel’s back, and the Federal Communications Commission gave ABC the perfect scapegoat. Disney Entertainment will be thanking the agency in private.
