The District of Columbia is America’s third-worst city to drive in and Baltimore is No. 10, according to a new report ranking 100 U.S. cities.
In the WalletHub study released Tuesday, the District ranked 96th in traffic and infrastructure, 99th for safety and 98th overall.
D.C.’s other scores, while in the bottom half of U.S. cities, were not as dire; it ranked 72nd for cost of auto ownership and maintenance, and 58th for access to cars and maintenance.
Baltimore, meanwhile, ranked 95th in safety, 83rd in traffic and infrastructure, 73rd in cost of car ownership and maintenance, and 56th in access to vehicles and maintenance.
Baltimore and Washington tied with Boston and Los Angeles for the second-highest chance of getting into an accident, behind only Oakland, California, and were tied for having the highest chance of getting a car stolen along with Omaha, Nebraska; San Jose, California; and Oakland.
Philadelphia was scored the worst city to drive in, Oakland next, New York City the fourth-worst, then Chicago, San Francisco, Detroit, Los Angeles and San Jose.
Conversely, the 10 best cities to drive in, according to WalletHub, were Corpus Christi, Texas; Greensboro, North Carolina; Boise, Idaho; Scottsdale, Arizona; Laredo and Lubbock, Texas; Birmingham, Alabama; Plano and Austin, Texas; and Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
