OPINION:
It is way past time to act to protect our men and women in law enforcement, the people who have chosen to do the work of protecting our citizens and country from protesters’ violence. Their lives are in danger, and Democratic governors and mayors simply don’t care. Some even condone attacks on law enforcement.
Congress makes the immigration laws, and state and city leaders must follow them. With mobs incited by leftist activists and Democrats, consider a mandatory jail sentence for anyone who deliberately injures a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer, Border Patrol agent, police officer, state trooper or member of the National Guard when they are carrying out their duties. The death penalty should be the punishment in the killing of any law enforcement officer.
What’s more, it is wrong for city officials and police department chiefs to restrain their officers from protecting the ICE and Border Patrol agents from malevolent protesters. The role of the police is to protect the people and property, and if they fail to do that, they should no longer serve or be paid.
Every life is precious, and when ICE agents are taking away illegal criminals, they should not have their lives at risk because politicians put illegal immigrants before them and our citizens. These ICE agents are working to prevent more families from having to suffer and grieve the loss of a loved one.
