OPINION:
Both Republicans and Democrats are Americans. U.S. leaders cannot allow the poor children of this nation and the most vulnerable members of our communities to go without food so they can score points or seek leverage over the other side.
I assure you, if the poor and vulnerable are made to suffer and are taken hostage by politics, members of both political parties will be held to account. It is unjust and immoral. Everyone — especially the president — should do the right thing and continue Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits.
