OPINION:
The left’s ability to perpetrate mayhem is meeting resistance. President Trump designated antifa a terrorist organization last month, freeing federal law enforcement to pursue the black-clad agitators who advance their vision of a Marxist utopia with rocks, spray paint and Molotov cocktails.
Among the first to feel the new weight of justice are Cameron Arnold, a man who pretends to be a woman, and Zachary Evetts. Both are suspected members of the group that opened fire on an Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility outside Dallas on July 4.
“We have charged these two individuals with material support to terrorism for their involvement in antifa,” FBI Director Kash Patel said on Fox Business. “This was a coordinated, planned attack by dozens of individuals to murder police officers.”
A bullet struck one lawman in the neck during the ambush. According to the federal indictment, the crew that planned the raid privately texted sentiments such as: “I’m done with peaceful protests” and “Blue lives don’t matter.”
The Democratic messaging machine denies antifa’s existence, saying, like President Biden did, it’s “an idea, not an organization.” The man who murdered Charlie Kirk carved antifa slogans onto his rifle rounds. Antifa thugs torched the federal courthouse in Portland, Oregon. These deeds are tangible.
Administration officials have good reason to believe the conduct of antifa devotees is more than just a concept because it is funded and coordinated.
“We have opened up multiple field investigations across the country looking at the banking and financial facilitation. We are looking at them as terrorists, just like al Qaeda. People pay for this destructive act of violence, and those people are going to be brought to justice now that we have the authorities to go after them,” Mr. Patel said.
A terrorism designation also brings enhanced penalties. Providing material support to such groups carries a sentence of up to 15 years in prison.
In a separate case, Peter Andrew Stinson heads to a jury trial in Virginia on Monday for the online threats he supposedly made in February. A former Coast Guard lieutenant with weapons proficiency, Mr. Stinson had a five-year history of articulating bellicose thoughts on X and Bluesky, the Democratic echo chamber. He once wrote: “We are antifa. Together we can kill the fascism.”
On another occasion, he remarked: “This is war. Sides will be drawn. Antifa always wins in the end. Violence is inherently necessary.” A message referenced the president saying, “Somebody ought to do more than sue the orange [expletive]. … It involves a rifle and a scope, but I can’t talk about it here.”
He also said: “If we’re planning murders, I’d like to suggest an orange one.”
Considering two attempts have been made on Mr. Trump’s life, including one that was a fraction of an inch away from success, missives recommending the crowdsourcing of a hit man with better aim must be taken seriously.
The mainstream left’s unhinged rhetoric is what brought society to this point. Anyone who holds traditional values expects to be slandered as a racist and as an extremist who poses an imminent danger to democracy itself. Liberal foot soldiers construe such malign commentary as a call to action.
Since liberals are incapable of self-restraint, G-men need to keep the peace. They can do so by dismantling the network of thuggery established by the nonprofits directing the barbarity. It’s time to expose their secrets and revoke their tax status because their “idea” has gone too far.
