Israel has won back its hostages from Hamas — but the future of the 20-point peace plan forged in large part by the White House has some sticking points. And it’s not clear if the terror group is going to abide all the terms.

This is not to say peace is not possible, though.

As Alex Traiman, CEO of JNS.org, the Israel-based Jewish News Syndicate, said: “I don’t think it’s a surprise to anybody. Hamas has in its charter to seek to destroy the Israel nation.”

How to characterize the level of optimism of the Jewish people then?

“People are anxiously hopeful. Certainly, Israelis are cheering the hostages came home … and even if everything falls apart,” Traiman said, “at least we know all our living hostages are home.”

As for the remains of the killed hostages, Traiman said there is “some degree of Hamas slow walking this process,” but that “Israel will be patient.”
