OPINION:
John Bolton, former national security adviser to President Donald Trump, was just indicted for mishandling classified, confidential, secretive and-or sensitive documents — specifically, for allegedly sending more than a thousand pages of papers to relatives. And Bolton’s response was to liken Trump to Joseph Stalin.
Methinks he accuses that of which Democrats are guilty.
Bolton said this: “Then came Trump 2 who embodies what Joseph Stalin’s head of secret police once said, ‘You show me the man and I’ll show you the crime.’”
Umm. Russia collusion, anyone?
Democrats are Stalin on steroids. They’ve made entire political careers and campaigns out of fabricating crimes of Trump; crimes of Trump supporters; crimes of conservatives; crimes of MAGAs.
Steve Bannon served months in jail after being found guilty of contempt of Congress for the crime of refusing to appear before the now-disbanded January 6 commission and provide them with requested documents — in other words, for refusing to play the Democrats’ game of rolling one MAGA against another. Bannon is now petitioning the Supreme Court to erase his conviction. Peter Navarro served months in jail after being found guilty of contempt of Congress for refusing to appear before the now-disbanded January 6 commission and provide them with requested documents — in other words, for refusing to play the Democrats’ game of rolling one MAGA against another. Roger Stone was ordered to serve 40 months in prison for lying to Congress, obstruction of justice and witness tampering, all related to Democrats’ Russia collusion investigations into Trump — in other words, for being a political enemy of Democrats and a political friend of Trump. Stone called his entire legal proceeding a “Soviet-style show trial on political motivated charges.” He most certainly had a point. Armed federal law enforcement agents did indeed surround his Florida home and arrest him in the dark early morning hours on allegations of lying to Congress about Russia collusion — collusion that never actually occurred in the first place. He was 66 years old at the time of his arrest. What a danger to society agents removed, right? Trump has since pardoned Stone.
And let’s not forget the FBI raid of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home, and the rifling through Melania Trump’s clothing, all for drummed up charges of mishandling of classified and-or sensitive documents — all while ignoring Joe Biden’s blatant mishandling of classified and-or sensitive documents.
At least Bolton wasn’t arrested in the dark pre-dawn hours while CNN cameras rolled.
There’s Michael Flynn. Paul Manafort. There were all those Trump officials swept into law enforcement offices for questioning — for interrogation — for intimidation; for hour after hour after hour after quizzing about Team Trump and Trump’s actions and statements and movement; for hour after hour after hour of recorded questioning during which one mistaken answer or incorrect memory would lead to an accusation of lying to a federal officer. K. T. McFarland, anyone?
The former National Security Council deputy to Flynn was so shaken by the shakedown she received from her own colleagues and her own government that she disappeared from the public eye for a bit, then returned with a book, detailing “how the Washington establishment [went] to unprecedented lengths with the [Robert] Mueller [Russia collusion] investigation and impeachment to crush Trump and the principles he represents.”
Show me the man — or woman — and I’ll show you the crime?
For Bolton to suggest Trump is guilty of Stalin-like behavior is a gaslight of astonishing level.
The entire Barack Obama-Joe Biden-Democrat Party machine was and is committed to the takedown of all-things-Trump and the eradication of the American Exceptionalism principles that drive the MAGA train.
Now it’s the Democrats’ turn to face the consequences of their biased attacks and deep state nefarious actions.
Not just Bolton, but James Comey, former FBI director, and Letitia James, New York attorney general, have been indicted by a grand jury on various charges — in order, mishandling security documents; lying to Congress and obstruction; and bank fraud and making false statements to a financial institution.
It’s not Trump who arrested them in the middle of the night and ‘disappeared’ them — a la Stalin’s secret police. It’s a grand jury of American citizens who were given a peek at the information the prosecution plans to present and decided, by a vote that hey, there’s enough here to go forward and hold court proceedings on these matters. Bolton, Comey and James all say they’re innocent of the charges, and so they are deemed, until proven guilty in a court of law, by a jury of peers. The process will be open and transparent. The legal proceedings will be recorded and available for public perusal.
Bolton, along with Comey and James, ought to be counting blessings. If they were MAGA, they’d be in jail now, while their jailers consorted with the media to label them guilty and while their accusers scurried to find some sort of evidence that could be twisted to show their guilt.
