The political left’s “No Kings Day” events planned for Saturday feature the message that we already have a king: the Constitution. This might be a great comedy line for a late-night TV host, since the left long ago ceased demonstrating (no pun intended) regard for the U.S. Constitution.

A few obvious examples will suffice: The left has turned against constitutionally guaranteed free speech on college campuses and has cheered the assassination of Charlie Kirk for exercising his free speech. It tried to silence President Trump’s voice to America during the campaign. Lee Harvey Oswald was a leftist. It was the left then and is the left now that promotes the unconstitutional right to abortion, the killing of innocent life and the taking away of voices by violence.

The left has created its own constitutional draft that is set and ready to replace the U.S. Constitution. Wasn’t it President Biden who was always harping on how Mr. Trump was bad for democracy, when our form of government, defined in the Constitution, is to be a republican form of government, not a democracy? In fact, the writings of our Founders reflect that they were horrified by any form of democratic governance.

Beyond being confused on the basics of American civics, the left’s ideology is designed to topple, not bring about, order and the public good set forth in the U.S. Constitution.
