OPINION:
I believe most people are astounded at the number of congressional representatives who seem more interested in government subsidies for their constituents than jobs. There are likely many Democratic-controlled districts receiving new job opportunities right now as a result of foreign investment and reshoring of jobs because of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act and President Trump’s initiatives.
Surely, at least a few Democratic patriots will vote to keep people (some of whom are also in their districts) from losing their jobs, businesses from going under, essential services from going understaffed and new jobs from disappearing. If ever there was a time for them to stand up against the herd, it’s now. These members of Congress will keep their seats and be recognized in their districts for having had the good sense to vote to end the shutdown.
Would it help if those of us wishing to save our democracy and give it a chance to grow offered to give each childish Democratic representative a lollipop? Perhaps then their constituents would realize they have all been played for suckers with this shutdown.
By the way, I think the state fairs happening all over America right now are a lot more interesting than the ridiculous “No Kings” dog-and-pony show the left is again planning.
