FBI officials on Monday said they arrested four people linked to this weekend’s mass shooting in Leland, Mississippi, that left six people dead and at least a dozen others injured.

The agency’s Jackson Field Office said they took Teviyon L. Powell, 29; William Bryant, 29; and Morgan Lattimore, 25, into custody on murder charges in connection to the shooting early Saturday in downtown Leland.

A fourth suspect, 44-year-old Latoya A. Powell, faces attempted murder charges in the explosion of gunfire that officials said stemmed from a “disagreement among several individuals.”

Four of those wounded in the chaos early Saturday were pronounced dead at the scene, officials said. Two others died from their injuries while being treated at hospitals.

The FBI said that there could be additional arrests forthcoming.

Witness Camish Hopkins said the aftermath of the shooting was the “most horrific scene I’d ever seen.”

“No one was trying to really help,” Mr. Hopkins told The Associated Press. “Leland failed Leland yesterday, but I know that we can do better because this isn’t Leland.”

The Leland mass shooting was one of several homecoming celebrations across the state that ended in bloodshed this weekend.

Nearly 200 miles away on the eastern side of the state, police on Friday said two people were killed and another was hit by gunfire after shots rang out on Heidelberg High School’s campus during its homecoming.

Investigators said one of the victims was found by the tailgating area close to the bleachers; the other died near the school’s baseball field.

Local authorities arrested and charged Tylar Jarod Goodloe, 18, with murder in the slayings that shook the town of 650 people. Gov. Tate Reeves said a pregnant woman was among those killed.

“Our state is praying for the victims and their families, as well as the entire Heidelberg and Leland communities. Those responsible will be brought to justice,” Mr. Reeves said.

A deadly shooting also erupted at a homecoming celebration after Alcorn State University defeated Lincoln University of Oakland, California.

The Saturday night shooting injured two people after gunfire was reported near a campus building. The state’s Department of Public Safety said no one had been arrested in the shooting.

At Jackson State University’s homecoming, officials said a shooting near the stadium’s tailgating section left a child with a bullet wound in the abdomen. The child’s condition was not shared by local authorities.

No suspects or people of interest have been identified in the Jackson State shooting as well.
