Former Capitals winger Devante Smith-Pelly is joining NHL Network as a studio analyst, the league announced on Monday. He’ll make his season debut on “NHL Tonight” this week.

Smith-Pelly etched himself into Capitals’ legend by scoring a goal in each of the final three games of the 2018 Stanley Cup Final. No player scored more goals in Washington’s championship-deciding series, though captain Alex Ovechkin also notched three scores.

Smith-Pelly left the NHL in 2019 after eight seasons, including two in Washington. He recorded 44 goals and 57 assists across 395 games with four clubs.

“Players always gravitate to NHL Network when they’re playing to check out what’s going on around the league,” the 33-year-old said. “So, to fast-forward and now have a chance to join the crew and share my experiences and my perspective from the ice to fans across the world is an opportunity I’m extremely excited about.”

After his NHL career ended, the Ontario native signed with Kunlun Redstar of the Russian KHL. Since his retirement, Smith-Pelly has occasionally appeared on the “Tales from the Warehouse” podcast.
