An Annapolis man has been charged with assault and handling a handgun under the influence for pointing a handgun at three girls who were caroling door-to-door, Anne Arundel County Police said.

Paul Susie, 58, was at home at around 8:30 p.m. Saturday when the 12-year-old girls were caroling in his neighborhood. One of the girls knocked twice on Mr. Susie’s door and he pointed his .40-caliber Glock at the three carolers, police said.

Police arrived about 40 minutes later to arrest Mr. Susie and recover his legally permitted gun, according to charging documents cited by WTOP.

Mr. Susie faces three counts each of first-degree assault, second-degree assault and reckless endangerment. He is also facing a charge of wearing a handgun under the influence.

Mr. Susie told police that he had had at least one alcoholic drink before the incident, WTOP reported.

He posted a $10,000 bond and is due in court on Dec. 17, according to court records.
