Arlington is looking for new names for its snow plows and salt trucks as part of the second annual “Name That Plow” contest.
People will have until Sunday to submit five names for Arlington snow plows and salt trucks on an online form; the city asks that people keep their suggestions respectful, fun, appropriate and non-political.
The plow names, replacing names implemented after the first “Name That Plow” contest last year, will be visible on the city’s snow storm response map, which activates when two or more inches of snow accumulate on the roads.
The first event last year drew more than 1,200 suggestions, including winners “Mr. Plow,” a reference to “The Simpsons,” “Plow You Doin’?” and the computer-inspired “CTRL-SALT-DEL.”
Like last year, the winning suggestions will be chosen from the wider pool of submissions by Arlington Department of Environmental Services staff.
