A soldier from the Alabama National Guard sent to the District as part of Joint Task Force-D.C. died in a non-duty-related incident in the city earlier this month, officials said.
Staff Sgt. Jacob Hill of the Alabama National Guard 1166th Military Police Company died in the District on Nov. 13th, Joint Task Force-D.C. officials told defense industry news site Task & Purpose.
Military officials have not publicly disclosed where in the District Staff Sgt. Hill died, his cause of death or what Staff Sgt. Hill was doing at the time of his death. Army officials are continuing to investigate the incident.
“The loss weighs heavily on us all within JTF-DC. Hill’s dedication to the mission and passion to serve our country, speak to the highest values of the military. We honor him for his service and will ensure support is extended to his loved ones during this difficult time,” Joint Task Force-D.C. Commander Col. Larry Doane told the news outlet.
