OPINION:
New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani labeled President Trump a fascist and despot shortly after their recent White House meeting (“NYC Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani keeps Trump ‘fascist’ label after White House meeting,” Web, Nov. 23).
He thinks Mr. Trump is a despot because despots use their power in cruel and tyrannical ways toward people of their country. He also believes Mr. Trump is a fascist because fascists follow the philosophy of nation over individualism, meaning our president cares more for his country than the people who inhabit it. Neither of those sounds at all like Mr. Trump.
Our president has angered a lot of people during his term in office because of his outspoken mannerisms, but no one — especially radical socialist and future New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani — can accurately accuse him of being anything other than a commander in chief who is working to keep the people of our country secure.
Mr. Mamdani has a lot to learn about our country and should consider himself very lucky to be serving his term as mayor in a nation that honors life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
