The NASA Mars rover Perseverance recently found a rock with high levels of iron and nickel, which could mean it came from elsewhere in space.

During a recent investigation on the planet, Perseverance found the 31-inch rock, which looks sculpted and stands higher than the flatter, more fragmented rocks around it, NASA said last week.

If scientists confirm that the rock is an iron-nickel meteorite, Perseverance would join the still-operating Curiosity and former rovers Opportunity and Spirit in having found one.
