OPINION:
I was amused by two op-eds on the same page of Monday’s Washington Times: “Where’s the violence? Look to the left” by Robert Knight and “Right-wing antisemitism is a betrayal of conservatism” by Don Feder.
In Mr. Knight’s column, we have Sen. John Fetterman, Pennsylvania Democrat, upsetting corporate media and his own party by defending Charlie Kirk’s right to free speech. And in Don Feder’s, we have Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts being castigated by his own organization (and many conservatives) for defending Tucker Carlson’s interview with “Hitler fanboy Nick Fuentes.”
So Voltaire’s dictum — “I do not agree with what you have to say, but I’ll defend to the death your right to say it” — is as conditional on the right as it is on the left?
Although this Zionist conservative reader doesn’t agree with Mr. Carlson on many issues, the former Fox News host brings to light many diverse viewpoints that are not being discussed elsewhere in the media (Butler, Pennsylvania, comes to mind). True conservatives should thus welcome all such coverage and not duplicate the left’s selective outrage at the messenger.
