A fire broke out at the Laotian Embassy in the 2200 block of S Street NW in D.C. this week. The people inside evacuated safely, and no one was injured.
The blaze started at 8:37 p.m. Sunday, according to Washington’s WJLA-TV.
D.C. Fire and EMS said on social media that the fire began on the second floor of the embassy’s three-story building and that the fire was “visibly extinguished” by 8:52 p.m.
Firefighters stayed at the scene for a few hours to ensure the fire didn’t continue outside their line of sight.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Laotian Embassy officials have not responded to a request for comment.
