It’s tough to be a Christian and live out that godly principle of being bold in the faith, yet at the same time, submissive and humble to God. It’s especially hard to live that concept as an American raised to believe that winning at all costs is the way to go.

And it’s even more difficult to be a Christian woman and feel that being bold is something approved by God.



Too often, women are told their roles in society are to be quiet, humble, submissive, silent servants of their husbands, of the men in their lives, of the church. Perhaps that’s why so many younger women are leaving the church, according to one recent survey.

Misty Phillip, author of “Spark Your Influence,” says Jesus saw women as equal to men, and so should society and the church community.

“Deborah was a judge of the nations,” she said. “Esther in her humility, but humility witth boldness, approached the king. Tthe woman at the well was the one who told everybody about Jesus. So why would a woman’s role be diminished?”
