OPINION:
I support President Trump, but that does not mean I have to agree with everything he does, as some seem to do.
A country can not be governed by “the deal.” In business and some cases in government that may work, but it can never be the paramount reason why things are accomplished in government.
In the case of Israel, things seem to have gone from the United States and the Jewish nation working together to talking ’”a deal” with Iran about its nuclear program — without including Israel at the table.
The Ukraine war has gone from being the war that will be solved “in 24 hours” to Mr. Trump suggesting that a signed minerals deal in Ukraine would act as a deterrent to Russian aggression. Dose it look like Vladimir Putin is being deterred? No. On the contrary, Mr. Putin ramped up his attacks after the deal was signed — yet now the U.S. is talking about taking “a pass” on involvement in brokering a peace deal because Mr. Putin is making it too difficult.
I hope this is not the case, but it looks as though this administration is moving on to the next “deal.”
What is the hold that Mr. Putin seems to have over Mr. Trump? The man ignores everything the administration says and becomes more aggressive, but all we hear in response are words about the U.S. considering more sanctions — or, worse, just crickets from the White House.
Peace through strength — unless it interferes with “the deal.”
