OPINION:
There are other reasons to ban foreign university students, not only from Harvard but from other schools, too (“DHS bans Harvard from enrolling foreign students over school’s ‘pro-terrorist conduct,’ Noem says,” Web, May 22).
At Harvard Law School, very few international students are in the J.D. program. But many are in the so-called “LL.M. program” or “S.J.D. program” of about 100 students per year. It is run as a separate business by Harvard. In fact, Harvard discriminates against Americans by issuing master’s and doctorate degrees to foreign students after one and two years of study, respectively, but giving American students only a bachelor’s degree equivalent or first degree in law (the misnamed “Juris Doctorate” or “J.D.”) after three years. In other words, a foreign student can obtain a master’s after one year at Harvard Law School, whereas the same degree would take an American four years.
The question is, then, what do the preferred foreign students contribute to the U.S.?
Many of the “students” use their Harvard degrees to obtain positions of power in their home countries and are corrupt officials. This can especially be seen at the Kennedy School of Government, which appears to exist for this purpose.
Jews have been discriminated against at Harvard for over 300 years despite their proven contributions to the university and the country. This was shown in the effective firing of President Lawrence H. Summers in 2006.
