OPINION:
The Democrats and their left-wing enablers in media and academia don’t believe America is great, nor do they believe it has ever been great. Why? Because they have bought into the false ideologies of Marxism and communism and are ready and eager to deny facts and rewrite history to obscure that America and its powerful economy based on freedom and capitalism has saved many from rule by tyranny.
President Trump should remind other countries and the political left that World Wars I and II would have gone the other way if it had not been for the intervention of the United States. The USSR would now be in possession of Europe had the U.S. not won the Cold War.\ Besides the tragic and irreplaceable American lives lost, these three global disasters cost the U.S. more than $23 trillion in 2024 dollars and trillions more in aid to help rebuild the countries of our allies and defeated enemies alike.
The U.S. thus subsidized the entire world, which bankrupted itself in those terrible conflicts. No other country had the will and wealth to bankroll these recoveries.
Yet as Mr. Trump has said, despite the economic advantages the U.S. has for years given these other nations, they nevertheless subjected our exports to high tariffs. Mr. Trump is now leveling the playing field with reciprocal tariffs, thus putting America first, as promised.
