OPINION:
The “left” brain has long been known to be the center of logical reasoning, while the “right” brain has been the center of knee-jerk emotional reactions. To reflect the way we use our brains, the conservative “right” should be switched to the left end of the political spectrum and the political left moved to the right end.
Republican leaders have always looked at data to inform their policy decisions, while Democratic leaders enjoy pulling at voters’ heartstrings. This is on full display every four years at each party’s national convention, where Democratic National Committee speakers appeal to emotions to rally the base, while Republican National Committee speakers use economics.
Spending our country into bankruptcy, defunding the police, having unsecured borders, not requiring voters to who ID at polling places, allowing men into women’s sports, ignoring our last president’s obvious cognitive decline, freaking out over stock market fluctuations, spending more than we take in and being in favor of government waste, fraud and abuse — all of this defies logic and makes the left brain short circuit.
Believing that the leader of a political party that’s been at odds with communism for 113 years has colluded with Vladimir Putin only makes sense if your left brain’s functioning has ground to a halt. The same goes for letting demonstrators who support terrorists take over our college campuses and handing billions of dollars to countries few can find on a map while our own victims of natural disasters live in tents.
