Dozens of members of Harvard University’s faculty have promised to pay out 10 percent of their salaries to resist President Trump.

This is called tithing, Marxist style. This is the university founded by Puritans to promote Christian learning, with a motto, once translated, that stated, “For the glory of Christ.”

“More than 80 Harvard faculty members pledged to donate 10 percent of their salaries for up to a year to support the University in its resistance against the Trump administration’s attempts to exact concessions and freeze billions in federal funding,” The Harvard Crimson wrote.

The idea has generated pledges so far in the amount of $2 million-plus.

They don’t exactly know how the money will be spent, or precisely where it will go, or specifically how they’re going to collect and use the donations. But by God — albeit, not for God; it’s not that kind of tithe — they’re going to do it.

“The faculty members have yet to determine how the donations will be made or used,” The Harvard Crimson wrote.

“The faculty members have yet to determine … what programs they would support,” The Harvard Crimson wrote.

“The faculty members have yet to determine … whether the 10 percent cut would come in the form of a reduction to their salaries or a post-tax donation,” The Harvard Crimson wrote.

But in a letter to Harvard’s president, Alan Garber, the 80 or so signatories made clear they’d like their tithes, err, donations to fund those programs and people affected by Trump’s freeze of federal funding in the amount of $2.2 billion, followed by a second freeze of funding in the amount of $1 billion, The Harvard Crimson reported.

Two million for $3.2 billion — that seems adequate, as adequate as bringing a feather to a gun fight.

Now, Trump is tightening Harvard’s belt a bit more.

“We are going to be taking away Harvard’s Tax Exempt Status,” the president wrote on Truth Social. “It’s what they deserve!”

And Harvard’s response: “Harvard’s Trick for Fighting Trump? A Deep Bench of Conservative Lawyers,” The New York Times just reported.

The story went on: “Harvard has hired lawyers connected to conservative Supreme Court justices and President Trump himself to fight its case against the government.”

So that — plus $2.2 million, give or take — hmm.

Why won’t Harvard just get rid of the Jew haters and Hamas lovers? That’s a great question.

Harvard sees antisemitism as protected free speech and has gone to court to sue the Trump administration, accusing it of using federal funding as “leverage to gain control of academic decision-making at Harvard.”

In other words: If Harvard wants to let the antisemites freely roam, Harvard should have the freedom and right to do so, on the taxpayers’ dime.

Think about that. Think about the spirit driving that logic. This is the “god” 80 Harvard faculty are tithing 10 percent to support.
