OPINION:
Could someone inform President Trump that Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine with the Russian army is a mirror of the Nazi army’s invasion into Poland in 1939–and that each sought the land of an adjacent free nation with which neither had previously been at war?
Moreover, Mr. Putin has used the same excuses that Hitler and Nazi leaders used to justify their beginning of World War II.
Let’s not forget, beginning a war is a major violation of international law and the penalties are very severe for those who lose a trial of such a charge. The International Criminal Court has already charged Mr. Putin with various war crimes and issued an arrest warrant for him. His crimes include encouraging or allowing the targeting of schools, hospitals and civilians.
The singular goal of Mr. Trump and the United States should be removing every one of the Russian soldiers and land mines or other explosive devices that Russia has planted or left in Ukraine.
The current weak approach to Mr. Putin’s war crimes could result in someone receiving the appellation of “21st-Century Neville Chamberlain” or worse.
