I haven’t read anywhere that politicians have been given authority to break the law with impunity, so I was shocked to see the despicable assaults last week on U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents by Democrats who should be arrested and removed from office forthwith (“Democrats bulldoze law enforcement on behalf of criminal illegal aliens,” Web, May 12).

As a second-generation law enforcement officer (my late father and and stepmother were both police officers before me), I was brought up to respect the law, not abuse it. New Jersey Mayor Ras Baraka was arrested for trespassing at the Delaney Hall Detention Center in Newark, New Jersey, where he and his fellow lawbreakers  screamed that they had the authority to enter. The facility houses criminals including murderers, rapists, suspected terrorists and gang members. Mr. Baraka and his friends never sought permission to enter, ergo their arrest for trespassing.

Rep. LaMonica McIver, New Jersey Democrat, had the unmitigated gall to go before the cameras with blatant lies, saying that she and the other members of her group were assaulted by multiple I.C.E officers. In fact, a video clearly showed her assaulting an officer by bumping up against his back, using her forearm behind his head as she pushed and shoved her way, screaming, in the unruly crowed.

As for charging the offenders with a simple offense of trespassing, what I saw was assault of an officer, breach of peace, disorderly conduct and incitement of a riot.

A mere slap on the wrist for these politicians would be like having cancer and electing to remove only part of it. These anarchists violated their oaths of office to protect the people they represent and uphold the laws of our country. They should be made an example of to show that “We the People” won’t stand for their lawlessness any longer.
