Yossi Kuperwasser thoroughly assesses the weaknesses of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal negotiated under President Obama (Re: “Hard-line U.S. strategy on Iran must reverse the mistakes of 2015,” Web, May 8).

In negotiating with the Iranians for a better deal, President Trump’s Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff, must not overlook the repeated threats that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard has made against Mr. Trump, former Trump administration officials and Iranians living in the U.S. Mr. Witkoff must insist that Iran stop the threats and provide the U.S. with all threat information against U.S. officials and citizens.

Mr. Witkoff must also seek the release of Shahab Dalili, an American wrongfully detained in Iran since 2016. Iran must agree to stop detaining Americans. It must agree to allow free travel for Iranian Americans and Iranians legally residing in the U.S. It must also give information on other Americans missing in Iran.

Mr. Trump, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and other administration officials have freed Americans from different countries. We cannot stop until all Americans are free.
