Democrat mayors of Boston, Denver, New York City and Chicago just testified to members of the House Oversight Committee that the sanctuary policies they embrace to protect illegals from federal deportation actually — get this — make their streets safer.

It’s an interesting twist of logic. Delusional, even. But welcome to the Democrat Party 2025.

According to Chicago’s Brandon Johnson, Denver’s Mike Johnston, Boston’s Michelle Wu and New York City’s Eric Adams, deportations make their cities unsafe because it makes illegals afraid to report crimes they see to police — because the illegals are afraid if they report the crimes, they’ll be deported. So to keep cities safe, leave the illegals alone. That’s the logic. That’s the argument.

Bold move, Democrats.

Why not open the jail cells and let all the criminals go free? Turn the streets into sanctuaries for rats — the more rats, the better.

The delusion has permeated Democrats so deeply they can’t even affix the label of “sanctuary” to their cities.

“Boston is a safe city, not a sanctuary city,” Ms. Wu said, disputing Republican references to her city as a sanctuary for illegals. Toe the party line at all costs.

Then come the Bible quotes.

There are two things you can count on whenever Democrats are pushing agendas that are contrary to most Americans’ views — they’ll cite the Constitution and they’ll quote the Bible.

Right on cue, Denver’s mayor — “I’m a man of faith,” he said

“I have a moral obligation to care for those in need,” he said.

“As Scripture says, ‘For I was hungry and you gave me something eat. I was thirsty, you gave me something to drink. I was a stranger and you invited me in.’ So that’s what we did.”

That’s why Denver opened its doors — its streets, its communities, its homeless shelters, its hotels — to tens of thousands of illegals who were bused into the state after being ushered across the border by weak Joe Biden presidential welcome mat rollouts.

Bible-based charity is so easy when it involves tax dollars.

How many illegals did Mr. Johnston help by opening his own wallet? How many did he house in his own family’s residence? How many did he seat at his own dinner table and feed from his own personal finances?

Democrats have been turning a blind eye to the chaos created by illegals for a very long time, leaving innocent and law-abiding American citizens to suffer the consequences — all the while traveling with armed security forces, locking their doors at night behind gated communities, walking hallways at work where specially trained police officers patrol and guard daily. Laken Riley wasn’t even a wake-up call. They couldn’t even stand in honor of the murdered college student’s family at President Trump’s speech to Congress.

“Laken was stolen from us by a savage illegal alien gang member who was arrested while trespassing across Biden’s open southern border and then set loose into the United States under the heartless policies of that failed [Biden] administration,” Mr. Trump said during his speech to Congress.

And all the Democrats go — yawn.

And that, along with the lousy Democrat economy, is why all the voters last November went — buh bye, Dems.
