OPINION:
The elephant in the room when it comes to the Russia-Ukraine war is why Putin invaded in the first place: He wants the mineral wealth of Ukraine. But to paraphrase Sun Tzu in “The Art of War”: Never back your enemy into a corner. Putin’s first error was failing to heed that sage advice.
Ironically, the U.S., with its potential investment in Ukraine’s critical minerals, not only thwarts Putin’s subversive intent but also stands as a strong deterrent to any further Putin incursions. Unfortunately, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy seems unable to comprehend this, and he’s choosing to cling to his pride even at the cost of his country’s safety.
Zelenskyy’s corruption is a major threat to the U.S. The man’s reluctance to sign the minerals agreement and face subsequent consequences indicates his self-serving, money-laundering nature and willingness to put his country at risk and deceive America.
Many Democrats have a diminished sense of smell when it comes to Ukraine. That’s because familiar odors numb the nose. This whole thing with Zelenskyy smells to anyone else.
