Boston Mayor Michelle Wu just offered condolences to the family of a man who tried stabbing people at Chick-fil-A but was halted when a nearby and off-duty police officer pulled his gun and shot him dead. Leave it to a Democrat.

Normal people applaud the police officer’s actions and express sympathy for the poor victims who were chased by the knife-wielding madman. Normal people cheer the saving of innocents.

But Wu did this: “My condolences and all of our thoughts are with the family of the individual whose life has been lost,” she said.

You mean the homicidal maniac, Ms. Wu?

This goes beyond woke. This isn’t just a delusional-like refusal to recognize evil as evil, but rather to water down evil, sugarcoat evil, soften evil so that it almost, nearly, very nearly becomes good. Drawing moral equivalencies between good and evil only benefits and emboldens evil.

Wu wasn’t the only Democrat doing this.

Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden offered “thoughts and prayers” to the attacker’s family and friends. Boston Police Commissioner Michael Cox said “our condolences go to the individual who was killed tonight.”

Why?

Democrats are always on the wrong side of truth.

In fairness, Wu, Hayden and Cox praised the officer’s actions. But extending sympathy to the family of an attacker — as if he were a victim, akin to the real victims of his attack — is similar to how Democrats treat illegals; is similar to how Democrats regard boys pretending to be girls; is similar to how Democrats respond to street violence against MAGA types. It’s the same mentality and it’s born of a thought process that confuses wickedness with righteousness.

“An off-duty Boston cop fatally shot a lunatic who was trying to stab people at a Chick-fil-A … prompting city officials to fall over themselves to offer heartfelt condolences — to the perp’s family,” the New York Post wrote.

“The officer was in the right place at the right time in Boston’s wealthy Back Bay neighborhood … when two people being chased by the knife-wielding man fled into the restaurant fearing for their lives,” The New York Post wrote.

According to various media, the police officer identified himself and called on the man to drop his knife. The man didn’t; the officer shot him; the suspect was transported to a nearby hospital, but was pronounced dead.

Nobody else was injured.

And that should have been the focus of city officials’ statements — that due to the heroic actions of a police officer, two people were saved from injury or death by knife attack.

But it wasn’t. Once again, for those in the back of the room, from Wu: “My condolences and all of our thoughts are with the family of the individual whose life has been lost,” she said.

All thoughts?

All thoughts for the madman?

This is why Democrats lost in November and this is why Democrats will continue to lose politically, at the ballot box, with the American people.

Embracing good for evil is not a sustainable political platform. The American people are tired of being played as pawns by leftists in government who care more for the welfare of criminals, illegals, thugs and violent lunatics than they do for the lives of taxpaying citizens — of innocent, taxpaying citizens.
