OPINION:
This fall, Virginia and many states across the nation will hold elections that will prove extremely consequential both for them and the entire nation. In 2021 Virginia voters decided they’d had enough of the radical left’s nonsense — and elected Glenn Youngkin, a proven business leader, as governor. This past November, the nation spoke loudly, reelecting President Donald Trump. This fall, Republicans will need wins to solidify these gains and continue the momentum toward restoring integrity and common sense to government.
In Virginia, Gov. Youngkin has created a business-friendly environment that has attracted billions of dollars in new investments. He’s derailed diversity, equity and inclusion efforts in school systems and cracked down on crime. For his part, President Trump has in just over 70 days unraveled the Democratic cabal and turned back extreme-left policies. He’s eliminated DEI and the waste of billions in inefficiencies and fraud, benefiting all taxpayers.
Trump and Youngkin recently demonstrated the power of federal and state cooperation as they arrested some of the deadliest border-busting gang leaders in Woodbridge, Virginia. However, the gains and synergy may be short-lived without the right party winning the gubernatorial election this fall.
Virginia Lieut. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears is a solid and proven and conservative choice for governor. And there’s one individual who stands out as an excellent choice for her lieutenant governor: Pat Herrity. In extremely liberal Fairfax County, Herrity, a solid conservative, has managed a five-term run on the board of supervisors. He is the only Republican on the board. Many believe that with Herrity on the ticket, the GOP will pull many crossover votes in Northern Virginia, helping the entire Republican lineup.
Herrity makes the most sense to continue Youngkin’s policies and solidify the 2024 election gains. He will be an incredibly strong partner for Sears, and as an incumbent lieutenant governor, will be positioned well for a run for governor at the end of Sears’ term. et’s keep conservative common sense alive in Virginia and Washington.
