OPINION:
The U.S. Supreme Court will soon decide whether or not President Donald Trump can deport deemed dangerous gang members, including those involved with designated terrorist organizations, using the Alien Enemies Act.
The fact this has to go to the High Court only underscores the absolute decay of the Democrat Party.
If Democrats truly cared about the safety of American citizens, they wouldn’t be mounting such a coordinated defense of Venezuelans identified by this administration as members of the bloody and violent Tren de Aragua gang. They wouldn’t be tipping their media friends to launch a public relations blitz on behalf of the gang members that relied on teary-eyed familial assertions and claims of innocence as proof of Team Trump’s unconstitutional overreach. Gang? What gang? Carlos was a hard-working dishwasher who loved his mama and his 14 children and attended church six times a week!
“Families of deported Venezuelans disputed gang claims,” NPR wrote a few days ago.
See? See? Nothing to see here. (Just ask Judge James Boasberg. He’s got four Trump cases right now. He knows all about Trump, wink, wink.)
Once again, Democrats are on the wrong side of Americans. Once more, Democrats are weaponizing an issue that ought to be unifying. It’s not controversial to expel people from society who are trying to destroy said society.
“Poll: Americans side with Trump on deportations — not activists fighting for illegals & gang members,” Ceres Courier reported a few days ago, citing a YouGov survey that found 57 percent versus 38 percent favor Trump’s immigration strategy..
From Ceres Courier: “On deportation specifically, Americans support Trump’s deportation efforts by 15 points, 54 percent to 39 percent. A full 36 percent of Americans strongly support the president’s approach to deporting those in the United States illegally. Independents support deportations by 14 points, 51 percent to 37 percent.”
Moreover, an AP-NORC survey that was published in January found “a full 83 percent of Americans favor deporting violent criminals from the United States back to their home countries,” Ceres Courier wrote.
Eighty. Three. Percent.
For Democrats to suddenly discover a Constitution in their desk drawer they’ve then scoured for loopholes, then scurry to court, err, make that to their carefully selected court, headed by their carefully selected judges (enter James Boasberg again), and make the pitch that deporting hard-working dishwashers with tattoos that seem gang-affiliated but are really, in the right light and with the proper viewing materials, expressions of love for “Mom” — well, for Democrats to do all that in the face of such American disapproval, shows one of two things: They’re either stupid. Or they hate America and Trump.
Smart pick’s on Option Two.
In Prince William County, Virginia, a 24-year-old MS-13 gang leader named Henrry Josue Villatoro Santos was just arrested, marking a significant win for this White House. He’s been living in America illegally for a decade. He was taken into custody in his Woodbridge home and charged with illegal gun possession.
Interesting to note: the county in which he lived was the center of the then-brewing national border security storm during the Barack Obama days. That’s where the Republican-led Board of Supervisors under the chairmanship of Republican Corey Stewart fought tooth and nail to put into place a 287(g) program that allowed local law enforcement to ask arrested suspects their citizenship status, and then inform federal immigration agents accordingly.
Democrats hated, hated, hated 287(g).
They hated it so much they launched massive citizen protest movements, and pressed for hundreds and hundreds of activists to attend the supervisors’ meetings and speak against the program. They called on every illegal alien-supporting advocacy group they could find to drum out their members. They tapped every congressional members they could find to come down from D.C. and shake their fingers — their fists — at the supervisors. It was mayhem for months.
And while 287(g) did ultimately pass — and mostly because the legal citizens of Prince William were sick and tired of having their loved ones hit and killed by drunk drivers who were in-country illegally, or worse, murdered — the program went away in 2020. Why? That was the year Ann Wheeler, a Democrat, replaced Stewart. That was also the year Joe Biden took over the presidency.
Goodbye, Republican law, Republican order.
Hello, Democrat-ordered sanctuary for illegals.
This is the world Democrats want for Americans — while all they while they live behind secure gates and work in offices guarded by armed security.
Democrats can afford to play politics with national security and the safety of American citizens. They don’t have to suffer the consequences of their actions. They don’t have to deal with the life and death consequences they’re creating for innocent citizens with their contemptible court actions that ultimately shelter the worst of humanity.
