The NFL never sleeps.

Wide receivers DeAndre Hopkins and Cooper Kupp highlighted the latest wave of free agency over the weekend, signing sizable contracts with the Baltimore Ravens and Seattle Seahawks respectively, as the league marches through the offseason and toward April’s draft.

Hopkins, 32, agreed to a one-year, $5 million deal to join superstar quarterback Lamar Jackson and bulldozing running back Derrick Henry in Baltimore. The move will allow Hopkins to answer a five-year-old question.

“How many TDs would this trio total?” Hopkins wrote on social media in 2020, captioning a photo of himself with Jackson and Henry. The group played on different teams at the time.

At an introductory press conference on Friday, the five-time Pro Bowl receiver refused to give a firm answer to his own question.

“Hopefully enough to win a lot of games and win the games we need to win,” he said. “I don’t have a number, but hopefully more than a little bit.”

Hopkins split time between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Tennessee Titans last season. He recorded 56 catches for 610 yards with five touchdowns.

Despite a dip in production last year, Hopkins noted that retirement isn’t on his mind.

“I take it day by day, honestly,” he said. “I really never thought about that or look forward to it, but they say, ’You’ll know when your body gives out on you,’ and it hasn’t given out on me yet, or for me, I feel like gotten close. So, who knows?”

He isn’t the only aging receiver looking to resuscitate his career in a new locale.

Kupp, 31, will move to the Pacific Northwest after signing a three-year, $45 million contract with the Seattle Seahawks. In eight seasons with the division rival Los Angeles Rams, Kupp caught 634 passes for 7,776 yards and 57 touchdowns.

The Eastern Washington product was a catalyst for the Rams squad that won a title in 2022. Kupp was named the Super Bowl MVP and the league’s Offensive Player of the Year after leading the NFL in catches, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns.

But the former Pro Bowler has struggled with injuries over the last three seasons, missing at least five games in each campaign. The Rams released Kupp after signing three-time All-Pro receiver Davante Adams earlier this offseason.

While the Rams and Seahawks made flashy deals, the San Francisco 49ers failed to make any splashy moves. Even retaining players proved difficult as the team recovers from a disappointing 6-11 finish in 2024.

The franchise re-signed nine-time Pro Bowl fullback Kyle Juszcyzk on Saturday, just four days after unexpectedly releasing him.

The Harvard product acts as a lead blocker for coach Kyle Shanahan’s zone running scheme while routinely catching passes out of the backfield. He’s scheduled to make $8 million over two seasons, a modest pay cut from his previous deal.

San Francisco also traded running back Jordan Mason to the Minnesota Vikings on Saturday night. The 49ers landed a sixth-round pick in the 2026 draft and a fifth-rounder this year in exchange for a 2025 sixth-round selection.

The Vikings quickly agreed to sign Mason to a two-year, $12 million contract.

Mason is the latest 49er to leave the Bay Area this offseason. San Francisco traded wide receiver Deebo Samuel to the Washington Commanders while 11 other players left in free agency, agreeing to deals worth a combined $321 million.
