OPINION:
President Trump got his chance to poke the Democratic Party directly in the eye, and he seized it (“Trump restoring common sense to America,” Web, March 11). He finally achieved some revenge for the impeachments, the unfounded accusations of racism and all the legal antics the Democrats have thrown at him over the past eight-plus years.
As he took the podium to address the nation last week, the Democrats had an inkling of what might be coming — so they decided to go on offensive. They started yelling and holding up little signs before the president could gather momentum. This resulted in the ouster of Rep. Al Green, Texas Democrat, and a vigorous castigation of the others who participated in the disruption.
Trump threw a taunting first blow by saying, “We’re back!” Within the first minute, he exclaimed, “Joe Biden was the worst president we ever had.” He then remarked that the “Democrats believed we needed new legislation passed to effectively secure our border, when all we really needed was … a new president.”
The Democrats realized they could not prevent their imminent verbal flogging. Trump criticized them for their lack of response to anything positive about what he or his administration has ever done.
After that, we saw them wilt in their seats, holding their sad little signs. They couldn’t even acknowledge a 13-year-old boy who was fighting cancer, as they were blindsided by their own hypocrisy.
