A move to another country could be in the cards for Washington Spirit and U.S. Women’s National Team forward Trinity Rodman, she said this week. But the 22-year-old said she isn’t in any rush to leave the District.

“I’ve always thought about playing overseas at some point in my career,” Rodman told ESPN. “I think I would kick myself if I retired and hadn’t done that. So it’s just a matter of when, I think.”

The National Women’s Soccer League has weathered a bevy of high-profile players departing for foreign leagues in recent years. Top Americans Naomi Girma, Korbin Albert, Emily Fox and Crystal Dunn have all opted to play in Europe.

Girma, formerly of the San Diego Wave, joined British-based Chelsea this offseason on a $1.1 million transfer fee. The deal was the largest ever for a women’s soccer player.

“There are a lot of things about Chelsea that made me want to come here — the culture, the winning mentality, staff and players,” Girma told ESPN. “It’s a top environment to learn and grow in.”

Rodman said any international move will have to wait. She’s preparing for the start of the NWSL regular season on Friday.

“We’ll see what happens when the time is right,” she said.
