The Washington Commanders have agreed to sign former New Orleans Saints safety Will Harris.
The agreement includes a two-year deal that could be worth as much as $10 million, NFL Network reported.
Harris, 29, started 13 games in his lone season in New Orleans, recording 74 tackles and an interception. The former third-round pick of the Detroit Lions has three interceptions in his six-year career.
The Commanders had a hole in their secondary after former safety Jeremy Chinn agreed to sign with the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday.
Harris’ skill set aligns well with Chinn’s role in coach Dan Quinn’s defense. The former Saint has lined up at several positions throughout his career, including linebacker and cornerback in addition to his traditional safety role.
Harris even spent 112 snaps aligned with the defensive line last season, according to Pro Football Focus.
The versatile defensive back is the second new addition this offseason for Commanders general manager Adam Peters. The franchise agreed to a three-year, $45 million deal with former New York Jets defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw.
