The “fiscal hawk” RINO Republicans apparently suffering from bird flu — which is causing brain lock — would had have a sound argument against the “Big, Beautiful Bill” if we were in 1965 (“Trump savages Sen. Rand Paul over opposition to ‘big, beautiful bill,’” Web, June 3). They persist in opposing the measure even though the real economists have clearly illustrated that revenue from trade, tariffs and domestic business expansion will more than outweigh the deficits in the bill over 10 years.

More importantly, these radical, frugal GOP dinosaurs don’t seem to understand that with perilous and imminent danger to the U.S. and Israel now coming from all over the world (the worst from Iran, which probably already has nuclear capability), if we don’t fund this bill now, having concerns about anyone’s “fiscal future” will be tantamount to rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic.

These Republicans are basically good guys, but this is crunch time, when false, stubborn bravado and unrealistic principles must take a back seat to an all-hands-and-assets-on-deck mentality. It’s what we need to give America its best shot to survive and thrive.
