Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown still hasn’t faced the attempted murder charge filed against him in Florida earlier this month.
The 36-year-old said Saturday that he has left the United States.
“I’m out the country ain’t no more Child Support,” he wrote on X. “Tell your mama get a job.”
Brown has been in Dubai since authorities in Miami-Dade County issued a warrant for his arrest on June 11. Prosecutors have been in contact with the former All-Pro’s attorney and do not consider him “on the run,” the Miami Herald reported.
“We’re not going to be sending anybody there,” Miami Police Chief Manny Morales told the Herald.
Authorities said they expect to take Brown into custody when he returns stateside. The warrant calls for a $10,000 bond and house arrest until the trial.
Brown’s criminal charge — attempted murder with a firearm — stemmed from a shooting outside a boxing event in Miami last month. Brown claims he was a victim in the incident.
“I was jumped by multiple individuals who tried to steal my jewelry and cause physical harm to me,” Brown posted on X. “Contrary to some video circulating, Police temporarily detained me until they received my side of the story and then released me.”
Brown has found himself at the center of several controversies since his playing career ended in 2021. Several people have accused him of assault, sexual misconduct and failing to pay child support.
