I am appalled at those who say we should not do anything that would drag us into another war. What planet do they think they are living on? In the 1950s and ’60s we built nuclear shelters in our backyards and had Russian submarines carrying nuclear weapons off our coasts. We lived in fear of a nuclear war with Russia at any moment. It wasn’t until we forced the breakup of the Soviet Union under the Reagan years that this capability was dismantled and we could finally breath.

If Americans aren’t willing to fight to stay free — and especially to rid the world of a maniacal enemy that would surely attack us with nuclear weapons — there is really no hope for us. Fortunately, there are plenty of Americans who feel that though war is horrific in every way, it’s the price a free nation has to pay if it wants to stay free, not be annihilated by a merciless predator with a nuclear weapon.

The only way to deal with a  bully is to stand up and fight. Trying to negotiate with Iran is like trying to talk a pit bull out of biting you. That the naysayers should tell the administration this is an ancient conflict and not our war is outrageous and disingenuous. The Israelis happen to be on the front line for democracies all over the world and we should be damn proud of them and their courage — but if we have to participate, then we must.

Lastly, I believe much of the unrest we are experiencing in our own country and many other places around the world will significantly diminish when this vicious Iranian theocratic dictatorship is destroyed, thus removing support for Islamic terrorism and insurrection everywhere.
