Letter to the editor: Imagine a different Mexico

OPINION:

As the Los Angeles riots continue, the phrase “I can only imagine” comes to mind. In 1848, the United States had captured all of Mexico during the Mexican-American war. The U.S. graciously gave it back to Mexico.

Now, imagine that the U.S. had kept Mexico and divided it into states. Would we have the crisis we have now? Would the wall be considerably cheaper given the shorter distance it would have to span? Finally, would there be murderous cartels in America’s Mexico?

I can only imagine.
