California Gov. Gavin Newsom, in the latest showdown with federal authorities attempting to instill law and order in the burning inferno called Los Angeles, dared President Trump’s border czar Tom Homan to, colloquially, “arrest me, bro.”

This is just so Democrat. The world’s on fire and what do Democrats do? They busy themselves by shooting the firemen.

The party of leftists has become a cartoon of anti-constitutionalism. It’s enough to make Saul Alinsky, deceased author of “Rules for Radicals,” sit up in his grave and cheer. Among his principles: Choose the target, then isolate it, attack, attack, attack it. Increase insecurity, increase uncertainty, instill an atmosphere of fear, and whenever possible, distract, distract, distract from the larger issue. Here’s a biggie: Confront the opposition whenever it fails to meet its own standards — and then toss it in their face. This is classic “do as I say, not as I do” Democrat speak. Another biggie: Keep going, don’t quit, never, ever quit.

This is the driving theme behind all the vicious leftists in the Democrat Party: They see politics and culture as one big war, rather than individual battles.

They’re in it for the long term.

They’re in it for the long haul.

They’re in it to win it.

That’s why Democrats don’t have a problem defending the thugs and murderers and rapists and human traffickers and drug runners and gang bangers and their enablers and funded who are polluting the streets of Los Angeles, wreaking havoc and causing mayhem and sending self-driving cars on fire at police lines and counter-protest gatherings.

They care little for the specifics — even less for the morality — of the individual skirmishes they create, then join, then grow and fuel and expand, so long as they’re able to advance an inch down the field toward tyranny; so long as the next census count includes enough illegals that they’re able to add to their D’s in Congress.

Their thinking, if it can be called thinking, goes like this: Yes, violence is bad. But sometimes, violence is necessary, if it brings about an end to — fill in the blank. It’s a mindset of war, and as leftists show, they’re quite willing to serve as soldiers in a war against American citizens, against all that’s stable and secure, against the very foundations of civilized society.

Barack Obama’s dream is coming true.

Right now, Democrats are up in arms that Trump won the White House and that he’s actually pushing forward with promised campaign platforms, specifically border control. So anything the Democrats and their minions do to rebel against Trump and buck the MAGA agenda is justifiable. They’re willing to sort the dead and injured bodies later, so long as they can throw Trump off his “America First” game.

Los Angeles may be in utter chaos.

But from the Democrat California governor, Newsom, and the Democrat city mayor, Karen Bass, it’s this: “Los Angeles mayor accuses Trump administration of provoking chaos in city with ‘dangerous escalation,’” The Guardian reported in reference to Trump’s dispatch of the National Guard. And this: “‘He knows where to find me,’ Gov. Newsom responds to Trump administration arrest threat,” KTLA reported.

Choose the target. Distract, distract, distract. Don’t ever quit. Alinsky may have died in 1972. But his spirit lives on and flies far and wide with the help of today’s Democrats.
