The Baltimore Ravens unveiled a new recovery pool at their practice facility this offseason, with one problem — players didn’t know how to swim. Enter 23-time Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps.
“Mr. Phelps, we have a problem. Did you know that one in three Ravens cannot swim? We have a solution for you, sir,” players like Ronnie Stanley, Marlon Humphrey and Kyle Hamilton jokingly said in a now-viral video this week. “Come to Ravens training camp and this beautiful aquatic center and teach us how to swim.”
Phelps, a Maryland native and noted Ravens fan, is up for the task.
“I got yall!” he wrote on Instagram. “Let’s do it!!”
At least one video participant, tight end Charlie Kolar, didn’t know the silly video would end up on social media. He thought it would be sent directly to Phelps.
“I should’ve known better,” Kolar told reporters.
The video made it to the Olympian anyway, after crossing the social media feeds of millions of other football fans.
