OPINION:
Reading the recent banter between Justices Amy Coney Barrett and Sonya Sotomayor on the issue of birthright citizenship was like watching two junior high school girls debate hairstyle preferences — except, under the circumstances, this is more important.
Ladies, perhaps a real, constitutional solution is lurking in the Constitution itself. If the document is unclear in an area, turn to a final arbitrator (in this case, the people). Amend the Constitution by the votes of 38 states with language that once and for all clarifies, at this juncture in time, how we as a people wish to define this sticky issue.
Less drama, more direct, clearer thinking. What a concept.
