Sen. John Fetterman, Pennsylvania Democrat, may wear blue, but his politics have started to look suspiciously red, white and right-of-center. He’s defended Israel like a Reagan conservative, talked border security like he’s one clip away from a campaign ad and shown more backbone than most of his caucus when it comes to calling out nonsense.

He may come wrapped in a hoodie, but under that flannel beats the heart of a steel-town conservative with a union card and a don’t-tread-on-me streak. The GOP could use a guy who’s not afraid to speak plain, ruffle feathers and call a bad idea what it is.

As President John F. Kennedy said, “Ask not what your country can do for you — ask what you can do for your country” Well, maybe what John Fetterman can do for his country now is shake up the Republican Party — from the inside.
