Rep. Brian Mast’s response last week to French President Emmanuel Macron’s announcement that France will officially recognize the non-existent “State of Palestine” in September deserves repeating: “Choosing to reward terrorism, hostage-taking, and genocide against Jews is the wrong choice.”

The Palestinian Authority and Hamas are partners in terror. Fatah is the dominant faction of the Palestinian Liberation Organization and the Palestinian Authority. In Beijing in July 2024, Hamas and Fatah agreed to form a unity government together after the Israel-Hamas war is over, and they issued a joint statement about their commitment to future meetings.

The unity pact signed in Beijing by Hamas and PA President Mahmoud Abbas’s people makes their true motives very clear. Mr. Abbas has not made any new statements since Beijing, saying that he will no longer abide by the 2024 pledge to work with Hamas.

Mr. Macron must know about the Beijing joint statement. It was very widely reported. So why is he ignoring the reality of the pro-terror entity that a future “State of Palestine” would be?
