OPINION:
Barack Obama, the former president who promised an administration of utter transparency but who is now being accused of treason, may have been — as one former federal prosecutor put it — “complicit up to his neck” in advancing the fake Russia collusion narrative against Donald Trump, but he won’t go to jail.
As a matter of fact, he’ll probably just be going about his business, living the shamelessly hypocritical life of a multimillionaire quasi-Marxist who speaks a big anti-capitalism message by day but sleeps behind gated and secured mansion doors at night.
“The scandal here,” said ex-prosecutor Andy McCarthy, Fox News reported, “is they [Democrats] had a legitimate reason to investigate Russia’s meddling in the election and what they did was they used that as a pretext to basically investigate Trump to spy on his presidency and to try to make him an ineffective president. That’s why it’s a terrible political dirty trick. The issue again is … is it prosecutable? And I just don’t see it.”
One: Presidents generally have immunity from prosecution for actions they’ve taken while in the White House, he said.
Two: The statute of limitations for prosecuting a federal crime has probably passed, he said.
And three — and this is just common sense knowledge; McCarthy didn’t say it — but three: It’s just not going to happen.
Obama led away in handcuffs?
It doesn’t matter how much “overwhelming evidence” Tulsi Gabbard, director of National Intelligence, has in her possession. There could be video footage of Obama telling his deep-state friends to get Trump, take down Trump, destroy Trump — to destroy Trump and his little dog Toto, too — and all that would happen is outrage from the conservative camps, denial from the Democrats, dismissal and outright whitewashing from the media, and in the end, nothing. Presidents come, presidents go. Hillary Clinton’s not going to jail. Obama’s not going to jail. And for all those leftist losers out there still holding breath, Trump’s never going to jail, either. The difference with Trump, of course, is that all the crimes he was accused of were fabricated. He was a victim of the left’s political prosecutions. Unlike Clinton, for instance, Trump never BleachBit computer records.
Here’s what Gabbard says of Obama: “Gabbard recently declassified a blitz of documents she claims provide ‘overwhelming evidence’ implicating the 44th president and members of the intelligence community in what she described as a ‘years-long coup’ to undermine President Donald Trump following his 2016 election victory over former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton,” Fox News wrote.
Attorney General Pam Bondi’s Justice Department is now fielding the criminal referral sent from Gabbard.
Patrick Rodenbush, a spokesman for Obama, has called out the accusations as “ridiculous” and a “weak attempt at distraction.”
And that’s pretty much expected.

From PolitiFact: “Fact-checking three of Tulsi Gabbard’s attacks on Obama about Russia election interference” — with the rather unsurprising conclusions of deeming these so-called “attacks” (a curious choice of word in itself) as “misleading” or “inaccurate.”
No matter what Obama has done, no matter what Obama is guilty of doing, the media will do its job of covering for him. So, too, his Democrat friends.
For the leftists who’ve taken control of the Democrat Party, it’s never about truth or accountability or justice. It’s always, always about protecting the agenda. And so long as Obama continues to serve the agenda, he will remain shielded from any storms.
At least in this lifetime.
