The Los Angeles Chargers kick off their season against the Kansas City Chiefs in Brazil on Sept. 5, and at least one season-ticket holder isn’t happy the game is far away from L.A.

He’s so upset, he’s suing the Chargers.

The complaint claims that the franchise breached its contract with fans and committed false advertising. The plaintiff, Devin Abney, said the Chargers misled him by claiming they would play nine home games at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.

Instead, the Chargers will have eight home games, as the annual matchup with star quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs was moved to Brazil by the NFL.

“We are hopeful that the Chargers will make this right and honor the trust of their loyal fans,” Rana Ayazi, Mr. Abney’s attorney, told the Front Office Sports news site on Tuesday.

The Chargers’ policy cautions fans that games and locations are subject to change. The team also notes that fans should be eligible for a refund if a game is moved, rescheduled or canceled.

Mr. Abney claimed that his request for a refund was denied. He also said he and other season-ticket holders “are paying 10% more than the previous season for one less game.”

The fan wants unspecified money and fellow disgruntled supporters to join him in the lawsuit.

The Chargers, who require season-ticket holders to sign a class-action waiver, haven’t commented on the litigation.
