I am quite surprised that so many Republicans and guests on Fox News seems to be supporting New York City Mayor Eric Adams over the Republican candidate for mayor.

Mr. Adams has not done a good job in his post, and has been at odds with the Trump administration on many issues. My suggestion: Let the Democrats and independents fight it out and focus on getting all Republicans to the poll.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Republicans to take back New York City. The GOP should be supporting the Republican candidate with volunteers, policy and funds.

Let’s look at the candidates.

Curtis Sliwa: Founder of the vigilante anti-crime group, the Guardian Angels, and radio show host. He is a conservative activist who joined the Republican Party a few years ago. Major endorsements: All five county Republican parties. He’s raised $300,000.

Eric Adams: Current Mayor of New York City. He is a semi-conservative, pro-business Democrat who is now running as an independent. He did not run in the Democratic primary. He’s more likely to criticize progressives than the Trump administration. Major endorsements: None reported yet. He has about $3 million in the bank.

Zohran Mamdani: Assembly member representing Queens. His ideological stance is, in brief, all anti-American; he’s a A pro-Palestinian democratic socialist or a communist. Major endorsements: Working Families Party, labor unions, including the Hotel and Gaming Trades Council, 32BJ SEIU, New York City municipal labor union DC37, Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Jerry Nadler, New York City Democratic Socialists of America and state Sen. John Liu. He has about $6 million in the bank.

Jim Walden: Partner at Walden Macht Haran & Williams. He’s an independent with a pugnacious streak. Major endorsements: New York City Organization of Public Service Retirees and former prosecutors, including former U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York Richard Donoghue. He has about $2 million in the bank.

Andrew Cuomo: Former governor of New York. He’s a pro-Israel moderate who promises to keep the Democratic Party from falling off the left edge of the map. He is the disgraced mayor of New York. Major endorsements are unclear since he lost the Democratic primary. He has approximately $3 million in the bank.

It will be interesting to see whether Republicans end up supporting the Republican in this race. Mr. Silwa does have a very good chamnce, as the other candidates will split the vote in many ways.
