Washington Mystics rookie Sonia Citron will participate in the WNBA’s All-Star 3-Point Contest in Indianapolis on Friday night.
Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark will headline the event after skipping it last year, the league said.
Citron is looking to become the second Mystic and first rookie to win the event.
Clark and Citron will be joined by contest record-holder Sabrina Ionescu of the New York Liberty, reigning champion Allisha Gray of the Atlanta Dream and Los Angeles Sparks guard Kelsey Plum.
Clark’s management team said when she turned down competing in some fashion at NBA All-Star weekend that the young star wanted her first 3-point contest to be in Indianapolis at the WNBA weekend.
The All-Star captain will have steep competition, though. Ionescu set a record for any NBA or WNBA player by making 25 shots in her final round to secure a victory in the 2023 contest.
Gray, who won both the 3-Point Contest and the Skills Challenge last year, leads the WNBA in three-point percentage this season.
The Skills Challenge and 3-Point Contest will be held Friday night ahead of Saturday’s All-Star Game.
