OPINION:
On one hand, Democrats see the likes of Zohran Mamdani, the happily bragging socialist seeking the mayor’s seat in New York City, as the new face of their party — and embrace him. On the other hand, Democrat voters are disgruntled with their party, and see their leaders as lacking in the areas of, well, leading.
So the smart Democrat Party leadership move would seem to listen to their voters and adjust accordingly. But they’re not. They’re pulling all the more left; they’re diving all the more into Marxism.
A new poll from the Democrat super PAC Unite the Country shows the party as fragmented and voters as disenfranchised. Great news for Republicans — sorry news for the Democrats.
“New poll delivers troubling signs for Democrats,” The Hill wrote in a headline. That’s a very kind way of saying the party’s tanking.
Since 2024, the party’s “credibility with voters has plummeted even further,” The Hill wrote, and that’s “raising alarm bells as [Dems] look to rebuild ahead of the midterms and the next presidential election.”
Good luck with dat, Dems.
The super PAC Unite the Country conducted a poll for the Democrat Party. And even its Democrat loving pollsters couldn’t spin away from this truth: voters see the party as “out of touch” and “woke” and “weak.” And that’s not just the assessment from white men, the demographic the media likes to spin as all MAGA, all the time. But that’s also the finding from Hispanic men and the working class — the blue collared and minorities the Dems are traditionally supposed to represent. With them, approval is below 35 percent.
That’s hardly the only bad news for Democrat poll watchers.
In mid-June, an NBC News Decision Desk Poll found that 57 percent of voters saw the Democrat Party through unfavorable eyes.
In May, a Marquette Law School poll reported that 63 percent of Americans held an unfavorable view of the Democrat Party.
In late May, an Economist and YouGov poll found the disapproval rating among voters toward the Democrat Party stood at just over 58 percent.
No wonder Democrats want open borders, all the time.
Bringing in more downtrodden from countries with socialist and communist and corrupt governments is the only hope Dems have of securing power. The more illegals, the more Census headcounts; the more socialist-leaning illegals, the more Democrat pols have opportunity to hold office.
The sorry truth is that voters have already rejected the socialist-slash-communist ways of the Democrats. Voters, for example, don’t want open borders. Voters don’t want illegals roaming the streets, committing crimes, defecating on sidewalks, driving drunkenly into citizens, and raping, murdering, and injuring innocents across the nation. And voters certainly don’t want to have to pay from their own taxed pockets to house and medically treat and feed these illegals, many of whom then commit crimes, including raping, murdering and injuring innocents.
Democrats by and large know this — that their radical Marxist ways, to include open border ways, aren’t winning them the hearts and minds, never mind votes, of their typical base. But they’re still not listening.
They’re still not changing.
They’re stuck in their own bubbles, listening to their own MSNBC friends repeat their own talking points, and cheering as their own bubble-dwelling pundits receive mo’ media time, mo’ media time, mo’ media time on MSNBC, to spout more stuff and nonsense, to spit out more socialist garbage, and until that bubble bursts and they’re personally forced to face the consequences of their own stuff and nonsense — until one of their own, for example, is mowed down by a spray of bullets from a gang member sheltered in a Democrat sanctuary city, for instance — on and on and on it goes.
Until then, Mamdani and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Sen. Bernie Sanders all get their say; all have an influence over party politics. More wokeism. More weakness. More and more out of touch with the average American.
“This is the reality of the perception of us as a party,” said Democrat strategist Rodell Mollineau, senior adviser at Unite the Country, in The Hill. “There’s [that] perception out there, outside of Democratic elites, and it’s taken hold in not just the MAGA crowd but [with] people that should be with us.”
Yes.
The problem with the Democrat Party is — the Democrats.
